This past weekend was absolutely crazy! Saturday was one of those days where everything that could go wrong, went wrong. It is not a day that I will soon forget and I’m sure that I’ll be blogging about it soon! But the day was not a total loss. After a long day of ‘seeing red’ Brian and I decided to settle down for an Angry Birds date night!
For dinner I mixed up some green Angry Bird Waffles real quick, shaped them like trees, and added a few angry birds (candy coated chocolates) to the branches. Each candy coated chocolate candies represented a different Angry Birds character. We’ve got Red (red candy), Chuck (yellow candy), Bomb (brown candy even though he’s really a black bird), and the pigs (green candy). It was delicious and so simple! Make sure you check out the recipe below. We watched the new Angry Birds Movie and to finish our Angry Birds Movie night we pulled out our phones and played a few rounds together.
This date night was just what we needed after a long day: Simple and fun.
I still wanted to make Date Night as special as possible so I decided to surprise Brian with this cute invitation. You can download it here.
My Date Night Style
Since it’s still unbearably hot in Kentucky I decided to wear a cool and breezy white tank top and comfy black shorts. I added some red earrings since the main character’s name is Red and I needed a pop of color. I was able to use my new Coolpad Catalyst phone to snap a few selfies together before dinner.
Angry Bird Waffles
Angry Bird Waffles are seriously so easy to make. I made them in the waffle iron so I wasn’t left with any pans to wash. Here is how I made these adorable waffles:
- 2 Cups Baking Mix
- 1⅓ Cup Milk
- 1 Egg
- ½ Cup Splenda (or sugar)
- 2 Tablespoons Cooking Oil
- Green Food Coloring
- Bacon (Cooked and ready to eat)
- Red, Green, Yellow, and Brown candy coated chocolates
- Mix baking mix, milk, egg, splenda, oil, and food coloring in a bowl and whisk until mostly smooth.
- Heat up your waffle iron and add waffle mixture.
- Cook in waffle iron for 2-5 minutes (depends on your waffle iron).
- Cut waffle into strips and arrange in the shape of palm branches.
- Use a piece of bacon as a tree trunk.
- Place the candy coated chocolates on the tree to symbolize the Angry Birds, Red, Chuck, and Bomb, and the green pigs who invade their island.
We had scrambled eggs as a side since it went with the Angry Birds theme. I didn’t feel like frying the bacon so I cooked it in the oven. If you don’t cook bacon in the oven then you have to try it immediately! You just line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, place the bacon on the baking sheet, place it in the oven, and turn the oven on at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. It’s so easy and I was able to make my waffles while the bacon was cooking.
This meal was just as much fun to make as it was to eat!
Making Movie Night Easy
As I mentioned earlier and told you about in this post, The Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan includes a free movie on VUDU every single month (That’s a $7 value!) which is an awesome deal! Using our VUDU account we are able to easily download a movie for date night each month.
The Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan also includes unlimited talk, text, and data of up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus the VUDU movie download for just $49.88 a month. Signing up for the Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan is super easy. All you have to do is stop by the Walmart Family Mobile booth at Walmart and pick out a phone, grab a Starter Kit, and set up service. I decided on a Coolpad Catalyst which is a steal at just $59.88! (Disclaimer: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to http://cbi.as/4q-u1 or your local Walmart for current pricing.) If you choose to go with this plan then you will also need to purchase a Starter Kit which is currently on rollback for $19.88 from $25.00. You can start any Family Mobile service today for just $19.88! Family Mobile will send you a bill at the end of the month so your out of pocket cost to get started is really low.
The Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan is great because it comes with 10GB of 4G LTE data. With this much data my husband and I will be able to play the Angry Birds game anytime we want! I also am able to use the data for checking emails, looking of recipes, and staying in touch with family members who live far away.
Angry Birds In-store Events
If you want to learn more about the Angry Birds Movie and Walmart Family Mobile you can visit Walmart during one of their In-store events. To find out when an event will be happening you can visit this website. Also, while you are there you can scan a code to receive a free power up for the Endless Runner Game on the Angry Birds Action! app. Whenever you see the Angry Birds display make sure that you scan the code to unlock a selfie augmented reality experience with the Hatchlings.
This was such a fun date night! How did you celebrate love this week? Do you play Angry Birds? Have you seen the movie? How would the extra data that Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan provides help you?
