No many how many fun and exciting dates that Brian and I go on there are still a few simple and faithful dates that we just simply love. Taking a walk together with our dogs is one. Another is spending an hour flipping through Netflix searching for the perfect movie-only to fall asleep half way through. And another favorite is game night. I am a huge fan of board games and card games. Growing up, playing games was the highlight of many family gatherings. Brian and I keep a collection of board games in a closet so that we can play whenever we want!
With Christmas coming up, I want to take a few minutes to share a few of my favorite boards for couples with you! These games make excellent gifts for the couples in your life. Or, if you’re like me, then you’ll want to purchase these so you can enjoy them with your husband! Either way, here are my top ten games for couples. As Brian would say, ‘these are in no particular order.’
Game of Phones
This game is pretty hilarious. If you are addicted to your smartphone then this is for you! One minute you’ll be challenged to take the perfect selfie and the next you’ll have to text a friend. I have never played a game like this and it’s really fun.
Think Pictionary, but with a hilarious twist. You’ll be racing to see who can draw each object the quickest and whoever has the most cards at the end of the game wins!
This is really, really unique. This game lasts a whole week, not just a day. This game sends you and your spouse on a secret mission to out-do each other with sweetness. I LOVE the idea of this game. I actually haven’t played it yet but I really want to.
I think this would also make a really cool anniversary gift for a couple in your life. If you need more anniversary ideas, just click here to check out these awesome anniversary gifts.
Card Games could seriously be its own post. But I’ll keep it short and sweet. Whether it’s War or Rummy, Card games are amazing. There is so much that you can do with one deck of cards. I believe that every home should keep them on hand.
This game is our most recent find and it’s so much fun! You are given a choice between topics and pick which is correct. It sounds simple, but it really gets you thinking. This is great for trivia lovers.
Team Brian and Rocky won this game!
Personalized Four-Across Game
This makes an amazing gift because it can be personalized with a name and a date. It is the perfect for sentimental wives like me. Plus this is a simple, fun game for couples to play. You can find more awesome wedding gifts like this here.
How could I make a list of the best board games and not include Monopoly? Monopoly is epic. That’s all there is to it! Though I’m sure that it’s caused more than one fight in its time.
This is another trivia game but it’s full of puns and ‘trick questions.’ This game is actually better for a group than a couple, but it’s still worthy of this list.
Awkward Family Photos
This game is just absolutely hilarious! You take two completely ridiculous things, awkward family photos and movie quotes, and pair them up to see who can come up with the silliest combination.
Ok, seriously how cute is this? I grew up playing croquet so whenever I saw this I just had to have it! This is going to be perfect for the winter, whenever it’s too cold to play croquet outside.
This game, and several others in this list, are from a company called Uncommon Goods. Not only do they have amazing products, but I actually feel good about supporting them. They believe in sustainability, donate a portion of their profits from your order to charity, and support small businesses. With Christmas coming up, this is definitely a website that you’ll want to check out.
I love that their name is ‘Uncommon Goods’ because all of their products are really unique. As far as gifts go, click here to check out anniversary gifts, here for wedding gifts, and here for birthday gifts. I cannot wait until Brian and I start Christmas shopping so we can pick out a few more things from Uncommon Goods.
Is game night a staple in your home? I just love the memories that we make while playing games together. It gets us away from our phones and brings us together. What’s your family game to play with your spouse? Tell us about it in the comments below.
