I have always been a rather impatient person. I don’t like to wait for anything. I know that good things come to those who wait, but I’d rather take my chances with what I can have now. I remember whenever I was single and I had to wait years to meet Brian. It was so hard to be single whenever it seemed like everyone else was getting married. But God got me through it. Likewise, I have friends and family members who are dealing with infertility and have been waiting for a baby for years. Waiting for something good can be very challenging.
So as you can imagine the past two weeks of waiting until I can start my new jobs has been hard for me. Other than a few writing jobs I haven’t worked in 2 weeks and our bills are due on September 1st! I want this season of life to be over! But I know that God has a plan for our life that is bigger than I could ever imagine.
What are you waiting for right now? If only we could sit down for coffee and have a little chat. I’d love to listen to your troubles and give you a little encouragement. But since we can’t physically meet up and spend a little time together I’m going to leave you with a few Bible verses that comfort me while I’m waiting.
Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He is gracious to us. Psalm 123:2
Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him. Isaiah 30:18
In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. Psalm 5:3
I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. Psalm 130:5
And I will wait for the LORD who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob; I will even look eagerly for Him. Isaiah 8:17
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren—was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. Hebrews 11:11-12
We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy. Colossians 1:11
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything. Deuteronomy 2:7
Look at the nations and watch– and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. Habakkuk 1:5
That last Bible Verse is my absolute favorite. I have no clue what you are waiting for right now, but what a comfort to know that God has something unbelievable planned for our lives.
