Two days after my first date with Brian, a big bouquet of flowers showed up at my workplace. I was teaching sixth-grade math when the secretary brought them in and I don’t think I ever did get my class back on track that day. I was definitely taken aback, but the flowers were beautiful and it was just another sign that Brian was the man for me.
Since then, Brian has bought me roses a few more times. Sometimes for a special occasion but other times just because. And we all know that ‘Just Because’ roses are the best! With Valentine’s Day coming up, I decided to switch things around a little bit and give Brian roses. But these aren’t your typical roses, they are made from airheads! Candy Roses are super simple to make and they are lovely.
First, you will need to purchase airheads and sucker sticks. I found my sucker sticks at Walmart but I’m sure any craft store would have them.
Unwrap the airheads and use your fingers to bend them back and forth. They are pretty stiff at first so you need to loosen them up. Then start wrapping the candy around the stick.
I used 3 mini airheads to make each candy rose. I pinched the bottom of the roses together around the stick. Thankfully, the candy holds its shape well! I folded back the corners of the candy to give the rose a pretty shape. I played around with the idea of using the green airheads to make leafs, but I don’t think they looked right.
Once all the roses were wrapped, I placed them in a new coffee mug. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day surprise for my hubby. Actually, I already gave it to him and he loved it. I think kids would love these as well! I made all my roses red and white but you could use any color.
You can pair these candy roses with a sweet Valentine’s Day card and place them in a fun new coffee mug and you are good to go. Candy roses are a simple, yet memorable Vanetine’s Day treat that your husband will love!
