Growing up, breakfast was always a very important time for my family to be together. It all started with my Great Grandmother and her amazingly delicious breakfasts of sausage, bacon, pancakes, oatmeal, biscuits, gravy, eggs, and hashbrowns. All of her food was made from scratch and it was incredible. (Read more about Granny’s house here.)
Later in life, it was my mom cooking the big breakfast with the help of my sisters and myself. She learned to make biscuits just like my Granny. The food was as delicious as ever and the time spent together was just as precious. In fact, whenever Brian and I go home to visit my parents we often carry on this tradition.
Recently, Brian and I have started the tradition of having our own big breakfast after church on Sunday afternoons. I know this makes it more of a brunch, but it’s our special time to make and devour a delicious meal together. I can’t cook like my Granny or my mom but maybe someday I will be able to! Recently I’ve mastered Opsies (Zero Carb Bread) and gravy, omelets, and pancakes.
One of our favorite pancake recipes is an old family tradition that is super simple and delicious! I just know that you are going to love it: Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pancakes.
Yep. You read that right! Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pancakes! These little pieces of Heaven take breakfast to the next level and are perfect for a quick breakfast that you won’t believe can be made in a little as 20 minutes!
First, head to Meijer and pick up your ingredients. I used Hungry Jack Pancake and Waffle Mix to make these pancakes. Hungry Jack provides delicious, hearty pancakes and waffles that taste amazing! I also grabbed a bottle of Hungry Jack Syrup since it was conveniently located next to the Hungry Jack Pancake and Waffle Mix.
Next, I headed down to the peanut butter aisle and picked up a jar of Maple Jif Flavored Spread. This spread reminds me a lot of peanut butter but it has a sweet maple taste that pairs perfectly with pancakes. Plus, Jif Flavored Spreads provide protein in a delicious maple topping that is naturally flavored without any artificial ingredients. It is also non-GMO, and gluten free!
Finally, I grabbed a bag of chocolate chips and I was ready to bake. With only 4 ingredients this recipe is amazingly simple!
P.S. Make sure you head over to Meijer soon because they have some amazing mPerks offers going on right now. You can get $0.75 off 1 Hungry Jack pancake and waffle mix, $0.75 of 1 Hungry Jack syrup, and $0.75 off of 1 jar of Jif Flavored Spread. An amazing recipe and a sale? Umm…Yes please!
Now that you have all of your ingredients, begin by making the pancakes according to the directions on the box. I like making pancakes from scratch, but this pancake mix doesn’t make a mess and saves me a ton of time. I love that a perfect, wholesome breakfast can be achieved with just Hungry Jack and Jif products! So the first thing that you need to do is mix up the pancakes and fry them.
Once you have achieved fluffy pancake goodness, place one pancake on your plate and spread the maple spread all over the pancake and top with chocolate chips.
Put a little warm syrup in a small bowl so that you can dip your pancake goodness in it. Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pancakes are the perfect Sunday afternoon treat for Brian and me.
Have you ever made pancakes like this? Do you have any favorite breakfast recipes that I should give a try? Do you love Hungry Jack and Jif products are much as I do?
