Marriage is the greatest adventure I have ever been on! I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I said ‘I do’ but I am so glad I did.
‘Confessions of a Newlywed’ is a series celebrating the life of the newlywed. We are here to share our encouraging and sometimes funny stories and helpful advice. You can read more stories and submit your own confessions here.
Tell us a little about yourself and your blog.
I’m Lisa. I’m a mother of a wild little boy. I’m not a newlywed- been married almost 5 years- but I remember those days clearly. I married my high school sweetheart when I was 21. My blog is about motherhood and celebrates all kinds of mothers out there.
When did you get married?

Tell us a little about your husband. What do you love about him?
My husband is so smart. Several times a day I ask myself “where did he learn that?” or “how does he know that?” I find that very attractive about him. He is always willing to get me out of a bind. Just last week, I spent two hours writing a blog post. As I was finishing it up, I accidentally erased it all. I had not saved it, so I just knew it was gone. My husband works in IT, so I called to him to find a miracle. He spent an hour on it, but somehow he retrieved it from the depths of the Internet.
What Confessions Would you like to make about being a Newlywed?
I had no idea just how difficult communication would be. My husband is not a mind reader. Surprise! I have to actually tell him what I want and need sometimes.
Do you have any advice to share with us?
Learn to grow together and not separately. I think the best part about getting married so young is that we get to grow together. We spent so many defining times together that we had no choice but to stick it out and grow into people who would work together in our marriage.
What is the best thing about Newlywed life?
The best thing I remember about newlywed life was just having someone to come home to. When I had a bad day, I just reminded myself that my husband would be home when I got there and he will always love me no matter what happens.
Lisa has some awesome advice for us: Grow together! Whether we are newlyweds or not this is great advice. Be sure to stop by The Mother Blog and give her some love! You can find her on Facebook and Twitter.
