I received tickets in exchange for my honest opinion. I only work with brands and companies that I genuinely love and believe in.
Whenever Brian and I travel, we want to visit places that take up to another world entirely. That’s why we stayed at the Radisson in the clouds with fantastic city views while we were on vacation. And that’s why we hiked the mountains last year and have at home date nights that take us back to our childhood or into a favorite game. So whenever we visited Cincinnati we knew that we had to visit the Newport Aquarium and experience a world only known to those with fins and flippers.
This actually wasn’t my first trip to the aquarium. I went many years ago when I was still living in Ohio. This was Brian’s first trip and it was fun to take him for the very first time! I had an idea of what to expect as we walked through the doors, but the aquarium was so much better than I imagined! The new interactive exhibits made the experience so much more than just a trip to see sea creatures, we got to interact with them. Never would I have imagined that Brian would pet a shark or a stingray, yet he was able to!
If you are ever in Cincinnati, you’ll want to visit the Newport Aquarium and experience it for yourself! Until then, here are a few things that I loved at the Newport Aquarium.
The diversity of the world’s sea creatures is amazing and the Newport Aquarium does a good job of showing animals from all over the world. We got to see giant sharks, tiny seahorses, Amazonian lurkers, and everything in between. Here’s a glimpse of what we saw.
Seeing Them in Their Home
The exhibits were almost as beautiful as the fish. Whenever we entered Alligator Ally, I actually felt like we were in the South. I could feel the humidity and see the gators only a few feet away from me. We walked among the sharks while the glass was all around us. The atmosphere made the experience even more magical.
Entering Their World
Our favorite part by far was getting to pet the animals. First, we came upon a cute little pond where were able to touch the starfish and anemones. I thought that was neat. Then we enter Stingray Hideaway and got to pet stingrays. I was too afraid to pet them, but Brian touched a few. Finally, we came to the shark touch area. Can you imagine touching a shark? On purpose? It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
We also loved this bridge that allows you to walk across the shark tank. I decided not to since it was crowded and I didn’t want to disturb baby Putman. However, it’s definitely another once in a lifetime experience.
The aquarium was clean, the staff was friendly, and the fish were amazing! Throughout our visit, I felt like we were in a whole new world. If you are up for an adventure but want to stay close to home, then the Newport Aquarium is for you!
