Only one more week until we find out if Baby Putman is a girl or a boy. The suspense is killing me! On one hand, it feels like I’ve been pregnant forever and on the other, it feels like time is flying by. I am ready to get the nursery cleaned out and decorated for baby!
With this pregnancy comes many firsts for Brian and I. Everything is unexpected and new! I love feeling the baby move, but the sore hips and back not so much. We celebrated Mother’s Day a few weeks ago and now, this month, we get to celebrate Father’s Day.
I want to do something special for Brian since this is the very first time that he gets to celebrate Father’s Day. A lot of the traditional Father’s Day gifts didn’t really feel like him (ties, goofy coffee mugs, tools). So I decided to get a little creative and put together a gift basket that is definitely his style! That’s where the video game basket came into play. Isn’t is perfect for a video game loving guy?
Gather Your Supplies
Before I could give him his new video games and game controller, I needed something to put them in. I headed to Walmart because I knew that I could find everything I needed right there in one place. As soon as I walked in, I found several American Greetings Father’s Day cards on a display by the door. After looking there I headed to the card and celebration section at the front of the store.
I had to find the absolute perfect card since this was our first Father’s Day and with the wide selection of American Greetings Cards at Walmart it wasn’t that hard. I didn’t want one that said ‘to my Father’ or ‘You are such a good father’ since our baby isn’t actually here yet. Then I found this card and it was perfect. Even a simple message like this can mean so much and have a greater impact than we realize. I can’t wait to give it to Brian!
While I was there, I picked some bows and tissue paper. I love how the color scheme came together and how good this all looked together.
I also picked up a few other cards that I can use to surprise Brian throughout the summer. Every moment, whether big or small is worthy of card and I plan on using them to surprise Brian all summer long. I’ll share more about those in a minute!
I also picked up a few little gifts for his gift basket; a new controller because he’ll need another when our baby is old enough to play and a few kid-friendly games that he can enjoy right now!

How to Make Your ‘Player Two Coming Soon’ Father’s Day Gift Basket
Actually putting the basket together wasn’t hard. First, I gathered all of my supplies.
Next, wrap the box with blue tissue paper and secure with tape. Cover the top and sides of the box with the Father’s Day paper and tape the corners down.
Download your ‘Player Two Coming Soon’ below and attach it to your basket. I did this by taping it to a paper straw and taping the other end of the straw to the box. This will look best and be easiest if you use cardstock.
Attach your bows to the front of the box. I used three bows because they look amazing!
Next layer the rest of your goodies into the box. Use balled up tissue paper to stand things up and tape to keep them in place.
Other Ways to Celebrate Your Husband This Summer
Last year I shared a post about surprising your husband on his birthday and you all loved it! So today, with the help of American Greetings Cards, I’m sharing 3 ways that you can surprise your husband this summer. What better way to brighten your husband’s day than with a ‘random act of cardness?’
So here is how I am celebrating my husband this summer:
Just Because I Love You Card
Brian knows that he is loved, but one of his main love languages is giving gifts, so I like to leave little gifts for him whenever I can. This card is simple and sweet and says exactly what I need it to say. I paired this with a plate of his favorite cookies, because who doesn’t love cookies?
Happy Half-Birthday Card
I love celebrating half birthdays because it is just so unexpected! Most people don’t even realize that it is their half birthday. You can’t really buy a ‘half-birthday card,’ so I made my own by adding the word half! I paired this card with half a dozen donuts!
Thank You for All That You Do Card
Owning a home and taking care of it is not easy! Neither is taking card of a pregnant wife, so the last card I’ll be surprising Brian with this summer is a thank you card. I love this card because it is so sparkling and blank inside. Right now it’s just a card, but later when I write in it, it will be worth so much more! I’ll be giving Brian a few ‘coupons’ inside this card. You can download these coupons below!

I made two downloads for this blog post and you can print them here.
