My dear sweet Brian,
One of my happiest memories is of when we spent your birthday together for the first time. You were turning the big 3-0 and we had been dating for about 6 weeks. The weather was beautiful as we strolled around the park, looking at the dogwood trees and chatting happily. I was excited to give you your new Lakers hat and sing to you for the first time.
Then you surprised me by asking me to sit at a bench while you went and got something out of your car. I knew something was up when you walked back to me carrying a little burgundy bag from a fancy jewelry store. As I opened the box I have to admit that I was nervous. Inside was a heart shaped locket with the words, ‘I love you’ written across the front and our names engraved on the back. It was at this point that you told me that you loved me for the very first time.

And then I was so relieved because I knew that I loved you too and I had been afraid to say it! I remember truly struggling earlier that week as I tried to decide how I would sign your birthday card. But now I knew how you felt about me and I knew that you were ‘the one.’
His amazing proposal!
Now, two years later, we are married and I get to hear you say, ‘I love you,’ everyday. Life is different now. Love doesn’t always come to me with butterflies in my stomach or grand surprises anymore. Of course you still say you love me, but more often than not your love comes to me in the form of an action. Like when you walk around the neighborhood with me even though you’re tired from work or how you smile at me across the dinner table.
Saying ‘I do.’
Our love is stronger now because we have both experienced heartache in our marriage but choose to continue fighting for our love, for each other.
My dear sweet Brian, two years later and our love continues to grow. I still wear my locket each day and I know that it is simply a pretty necklace and the real gift is being loved by you.
On our honeymoon.
I love you, Brian! And I want you to know that no matter what I will always continue to love you.
Happy 32nd birthday Brian!
