It’s January 24th and I haven’t worn a coat in a week. On Saturday, Brian and I went to the store wearing flip flops and t-shirts. I’m starting to think that we might be skipping winter all together!
And while I don’t enjoy frostbite, chapped lips, slippery steps, icy roads, or the hassle of wearing a bulky coat, I feel like I’m missing out this winter. I love snow. I need snow. Even if it’s only for a few days, I need a sparkling white blanket comprised of icy crystals and the scent of freshly fallen snow.
I really need some snow. You might think I’m crazy, but I want it to snow so much that I created a snow inspired date night. My dear husband was happy to oblige my longings for snow and so today I am able to share my snowy date night ideas with you!
If you love snow as much as I do and you feel like you are missing out this winter, then this is for you!
No snow? No problem! Have your very own snowball fight with cotton balls. Use a scarf or rope to divide your bedroom in half. You and your spouse each get half of the snowballs, then throw them at each other. Your goal is to get all the snowballs on your spouse’s side of the room.
Despite my best attempts, Brian won. But if this was a real snowball fight then I would have kicked butt.
Snow Inspired Ice Cream Sundae
As a treat for our date night, I wanted Ice Cream since it’s as close to snow as we can get. So I present to you the Snow Inspired Ice Cream Sundae.
The recipe is simple. I started with powdered donuts, then added vanilla ice cream. Next, I drizzled white chocolate syrup over it (recipe below!) and finally topped it with snow caps. It was heavenly! You should have seen how quickly Brian and I devoured it! So yummy!
I made White Chocolate Syrup by carefully melting one can of sweetened condensed milk with one bag of white chocolate chips over medium heat. It’s delicious!
Snow Inspired Movies
While we ate our Snowy Ice Cream Sundae, we watched a snow inspired movie. Here are a few that I think you might like.
Snow White and the Huntsmen – The name itself makes me think of winter.
Snow Dogs – This movie is really cute and family friendly.
Captian America: Winter Soldier – If you are a fan of the Marvel universe then this is for you!
Happy Feet – A super cute cartoon about a penguin.
The Mighty Ducks – An oldie but a goodie!
The Empire Strikes Back – Part of this movie takes place on Hoth, a snow covered planet.
Do you think a snowy date on a warm winter’s night could inspire a little romance for you and your spouse? I think so! If you give this date night a try, let us know about it in the comments below!
