It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on my pregnancy and how things are going with Baby Putman. I’m currently 24 weeks along and the doctor says that everything is just perfect with our little boy. I’ll have a glucose test next week, so hopefully that will go well!
I’ve been a little less comfortable lately with the summer heat and all, but so far I’m managing. I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to stay home this summer so I can work when I want to work and rest when I want to rest. Once I hit the third trimester and go back to school things are going to get harder.
Our little guy still doesn’t have a name. I’ve found that there are two types of people when it comes to naming a baby: The ones who think that you need a name immediately and give you all their suggestions and those who encourage you to wait until birth and then pick a name once you see him. Honestly, I’m not too concerned about having a name immediately. Once we find the right name, we’ll know! If we pick one tomorrow that’s great! But if we don’t know until he is born, that’s fine too.
This summer heat has me cranking down the AC and hiding indoors as much as possible. Staying cool is a constant battle! I long for a swimming pool but settle for a fan and a glass of ice water. Surviving summer pregnancy hasn’t been easy on me, but so far I am doing great!
So today I’m sharing my summer pregnancy essentials. These are the things that are keeping me going on long hot days. How are you staying cool this summer? Give me your best suggestions! The temperature keeps rising and I am going to need them!
If you want to purchase something, just click the picture below.
Snow Cone Maker- Brian and I buy so many snow cones during the summer that we finally decided to buy our own snow cone maker. I’m so glad we did! We buy sugar free syrup and make our own snow cones almost every night!
Pregnancy Pillow- About a month ago whenever I first started having trouble sleeping, a friend suggested I get a pregnancy pillow. It’s amazing. If you are pregnant, no matter what the season, you need one of these!
Cute Breezy Dresses- I’m hot all the time, so naturally I want to wear things that are light weight and breezy. Dresses like this one are perfect!
Crocs- Crocs get a bad rap for being ugly, but I don’t think that these look bad at all! Plus, they expand with my ever swelling feet and the extra cushioning helps me stay comfortable.
Stainless Steel Cup- I don’t actually know what kind of cup this is, but I do know that it’s magic. I can fill it with ice and water in the morning. Leave it in my car outside all day while I run errands, and whenever I get home the cup still has ice in it! Pure magic!
Cute Fan- Fans are a must for summer pregnancy, but I prefer cute ones like this above others.
Epson Salt- One of the best ways to soothe my achy back is with a bath with epsom salt. Now, my doctor told me that epsom salt baths were fine for me, but you should ask your doctor before you give it a try!
Ice Packs- Last week I couldn’t sleep at night because my back was so sore. I tried to sleep on the recliner, but couldn’t get comfy. I eventually propped myself up with pillow on the couch and slept with ice packs on my back. I’ve been avoiding Tylenol and other pain reducers so ice packs have been so helpful for me.
Smoothie Maker- One of my biggest cravings has been peanut butter banana smoothies! I’m so thankful for my smoothie maker so I can have one at any time.
Light Quilt– I found myself getting too hot at night with our comforter, so I switched this this light blanket on our bed. Oh my goodness I sleep so much better! It’s amazing what a small blanket change can do.
Okay, so that’s 11 not 10, but I don’t actually have a lounge pool so close enough.
