I was driving home from work today and I met a woman with road rage. I was chugging along at 70 miles per hour which I thought was good since the speed limit is 65. There was a bit of traffic and soon, there was a van in front of me. They were also driving 70 so I didn’t mind being right behind them. Then, I saw her speeding towards me in my rear view mirror. I have no clue where she was headed by she was definitely in a hurry!
Apparently, 70 wasn’t fast enough for her. She wanted to go fast and she wanted me to go faster too! Soon her car was inches from my bumper and her arms were waving dramatically in the air. I’d like to say that she was dancing along to the radio or swatting a bee that somehow got into her car, but that’s not the case. She definitely had road rage.
As we drove along, be behind a line of traffic and her behind me she got more and more agitated. She tried to pass on the right of us, but a line of semi trucks kept everyone to the left. As we drove along she waved her arms in the air and hurled silent protests towards my car. I’m not one to get too worked up over a woman with road rage, but it is annoying to be followed by someone like that, especially since I couldn’t drive faster even if I wanted to. Eventually, her exit came up and she sped off the bypass and on her way.
So to the woman with road rage on the bypass: I’m calling you out. It’s not nice to yell at people just because you aren’t getting your way and you think that no one can see and hear you in your car. It’s not ladylike and it’s kind. Would you act like that in any other public place? No way! You would be embarrassed to let someone see you throwing a tantrum. So why do you think it’s ok to act like that while in a car? Whenever I drive my biggest concern is my safety. Do you really think that wherever you are going is more important than the safety of the drivers around you? That’s a bit conceited if you ask me. And I know I’m probably making a few people with this post, but I’m just really over it.
I really think that we, as people, in general, need to quit with the road rage. Whenever you get road rage, it doesn’t hurt the slow driver, it only hurts you. You are the one that’s angry and irritated and if you’re not careful you could cause a wreck or at least give someone a headache. Road rage isn’t Christlike and you can’t hide it from God anyway.
So let’s just quit with the road rage, ok?
Or, you could really get yourself into trouble whenever you realize that the person who is the object of your road rage is a co-worker and they now have a totally different idea of who you are. That’s right. I almost forgot to tell you, I know the woman with road rage. I don’t know if she recognized me or not, but for the sake of her embarrassment, I hope she didn’t!
What’s your take on road rage? Does it bother you? Do you have road rage? How do you handle it?
