With all the rain we have been getting lately we are starting to feel like we belong in the ocean more than our cozy little house. We had hoped to get out and go to the park this weekend for date night but as the clouds opened up again Saturday morning we knew that it wasn’t going to happen. All the rain has me restless to do something fun and since we can’t beat the rain we decided to embrace it and have an Under the Sea date night right in our own living room!
We grabbed a few chairs and a blue blanket and soon we had our own cozy little sea cove in which we could snuggle up and catch a movie. Luckily for us, earlier this week we purchased the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan that includes a free movie rental from VUDU each month.
With the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan we get unlimited talk, text, and data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus a free new release rental on VUDU every month (that’s a 7 dollar value) per line for just $49.88! With 10GB of data Brian and I will be able to use our phones for all of our favorite activities such as watching movies, chatting with family, and blogging! It’s a great time to get the Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan and new phones because the Starter Kit is currently on rollback for $19.88 from $25! Since Walmart Family Mobile bills you later the out of pocket cost to start service is only $19.88!
While Walmart has a large selection of phones available, I chose the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime which is currently on rollback for $79.92 from $99.92. This phone has everything that I need to stay in touch with my family and run my freelance writing business.

As a part of our Under-the-Sea date night we were able to watch our free VUDU new release rental on our TV. We decided to watch In the Heart of the Sea since it is a new release and it fits our theme. To make our comfy sea cove we hung a blue fitted sheet over two kitchen chairs and filled the inside of the sea cove with pillows and blankets. We could have just watched the movie without the sea cove but this made it so much more fun! For a snack, we had Swedish Fish Sugar Cookies. These little cookies are as delicious as they look!
I was able to find the 1.9 lb. bag of Swedish Fish in their all new packaging at Walmart on rollback for $4.48. At the front of the store you’ll see the display with their ‘New Look, Same Fish’ packaging. The 1.9 lb. bag was the perfect size for our date night and the cute little red fish really brought the theme to life. If you are interested in learning more about the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan and Swedish Fish you can visit the Walmart Family Mobile Social Hub to find out when an in-store rep will be available to assist you. The in-store reps will even have Swedish Fish samples available for you to try!
These Swedish Fish Sugar Cookies are as delicious as they are cute. Here is my recipe:
- For Sugar Cookies:
- ½ Cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- ½ Cup Sour Cream
- 1½ Teaspoon Vanilla
- 3 Cups Self Rising Flour
- For Buttercream Frosting:
- 3 Cups Powered Sugar
- ½ Cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Milk
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- Blue Food Coloring
- Sugar Cookies:
- Preheat oven to 350 and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the Butter and Sugar with an electric mixer.
- Mix in Sour Cream and Vanilla.
- Gradually add in the flour and mix well.
- Roll 1 Tablespoon of dough into a ball.
- Carefully flatten the ball onto the parchment paper.
- Bake for 9 minute or until the cookies are no longer doughy but not yet turning brown.
- Buttercream Icing:
- Cream together the Powdered Sugar and room temperature butter.
- Stir in vanilla and milk.
- If icing is too thick add more milk. If icing is too thin add in more powdered sugar.
- Add 5 drops of food coloring. More if you would like a deeper blue color.
- Frost, decorate, and enjoy!
Once you have made the Sugar Cookies and Buttercream Icing use Swedish Fish to make them swim with delight. First sprinkle Blue Baking Crystals on the icing. Add Swedish Fish and Baking Pearls as air bubbles and you are ready to eat.
Our Under the Sea date night was soooo much fun and with our new Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan the fun is going to keep on coming all month long!
What do you do when the rain keeps you stuck inside? How would the extra data that the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS Plan provides, plus low startup cost make a difference in your life? What would you watch with the free monthly VUDU movie?
